This book is about America's first serial killer. No, not H.H. Holmes, this person or persons was never found, and lived in Austin Texas in the 1880's. In fact, some people of the time thought that the killer might have later been known as Jack the Ripper. There were a series of attacks, mostly on women (all men that were attacked were not killed, but a woman that they were with were killed.) It started as attacks on African American servants and ended with the deaths of 2 middle to upper class white women on Christmas eve. Or at least the deaths in Austin stopped then, as besides the people that thought the killer moved to London and started killing again, there were some attacks in other parts of Texas that might have been the same person. (There were some similarities but enough differences in the MO that it is questionable that it was the same man.)
