Sam Darling moved back to her hometown and just got a new job. The ink isn't even dry on her contract when her boss is found murdered in his office. She decides that having read many mystery books and having a brother that is a police officer, she would take charge of the situation and also solve the murder, in part to show up the man who stood her up to the prom decades ago. Also she has "Vibes," the ability that that causes her to just tell things about people. So she things she knows who the murder is before finding out how they did it, as they make her faint. (So does the mysterious, hot, new guy in town that is interested in her, but that's just nerves, right?)
