The Beggar King by: Oliver Potzsch translated by: Lee Chadeayne
Fiction: Mystery, Historic, E-book
E-Book Count:13
Book Count:20

This is book 3 in the Hangman's Daughter series.  Review of book 2 here.    In this book both Jakob and Magdalena are accused of  murder that they didn't commit.  Magdalena as a midwife was accused of killing the baker's servant, by the baker who was hiding that he gave his servant too much ergot in attempt to cause her to miscarry his child.  As he got the ergot from the town's doctor with bad instructions on how to take it, this causes a big fight between Simon and his father.  Jakob rushes to the city his sister lives in because he received a letter that she was sick, only to be stopped by guards and framed for a double murder by someone from his past, back when he was in the war.
