She was there because she has amnesia after she either witnesses her mother's murder or killed her. When she gets back home, she learns that her father has moved on. He wrote a novel and re-marrried. Sarah's step-mother is named Grace and they don't get along from the moment she opens the door.
Sarah still remembers nothing from the night her mother died, and is surrounded not only by that mystery, but many other ones too. Some of which might kill her.
