Rupert Wong is a cannibal chef. By that I mean that he is a human that cooks other humans. He doesn't eat them, he is a chef for a dynasty of ghouls in Kuala Lumpur. He also works as an administrator for the Ten Chinese Hells. His girlfriend is dead, having been murdered before he met her, and her unborn monster baby lives with them too. Also he lives in a world where all the mythologies of the world are real and work much like gangs where they have turf and alliances/wars with the other mythologies. Even more modern fictional pantheons and "worshiped" things are real.
So Rupert had a full life of hacking up and cooking humans for ghouls, talking to kwee kia that want to unionize, and filing paperwork on gods, demi-gods, and other mythical beings. Then a dragon shows up asking him to find proof that his daughter was killed by a fury. From there his life gets crazy fast.

First, I am glad that I didn't just read one of the books that make up this story, as it really just one story, where one book stops the next starts up, no reminder of what happened last, no new mystery with the same people, it's just all one story that's longer then you average novel. (I think it said it was about 450 pages worth of words, so why it was 3 books is beyond me.)
But, the story itself was interesting. A couple, who do a house flipping blog get a house in a small town that has been abandoned since the owners died about 20 years ago in what was ruled a boating accident. It turns out that the were murdered and the house is haunted. So of course they need to solve the mystery.

It does deal with how early detective books also deal with similar themes, and in the case of the works of Edger Allen Poe, he wrote both types of stories, but it spends s lot of time on noir films where the only "monster" is humans.

From there she gets sucked into a world that she never knew existed and has to fight for her soul as well as the world.

1. This book does NOT have a nihil obstat or an imprimatur. For readers that don't know what that is, it is an official declaration that a book does not have any doctrinal error. So this book did NOT get a bishop to sign off on: the theology not being wrong, much less any note on the science, history, politics, etc. I would not be surprised if this was because they tried to get one, and were told no.
2. I got this book from my mom, for those that know me IRL you know how bad that can be. I only read this for what new crazy "won't anyone think of the children," hysteria and over sentimentality, that it would contain. (For a thing I am working on, not the torture of this type of junk.)
3. This book is published by "America Needs Fatima" a part of "The American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property." Now I have vaguely heard of ANF before, and found everyone connected to it to be the types from point 2, and the name of the main group just double downs on it. And after reading the book I did a quick google search of the group and found that all the links in the top pages that were not from the group were either questions on if the group was a rad-trad/fascists/other cult or people stating that they were a cult and/or have been denounced by different bishops as a cult. Also their only Better Business Bureau review was negative.
4. This book is a horrible book! It gets the basic facts on what happened at Fatima right, but then goes on a rant that shows that they have no knowledge of history, science, what communism is, etc.
Not Fun Not Facts from the book: We would have won 'Nam if it weren't for politicians and being forced to sign a peace agreement, evolution is a communist plot, communist are both atheists and neo pagans at the same time, all evils of the modern world are both new since 1917 and communism, and other things that are just too bad to repeat as it goes beyond the point of crazy stupid to "not touching that with a 10 foot pole."

This book is mostly a series of interviews that the author had with Sister Lucia, the last living member of the children that saw the vision of Our Lady of Fatima. It also has a forward by then Pop Benedict XVI and some other documents that relate to Fatima.
It covers all the major crazy ideas surrounding Fatima and the secrets connected to it, with the answers from the last living visionary, i.e. the one person who should know the truth. So in no particular order: there is no additional secret, there is no additional letter she wrote to the Popes, she didn't tell John Paul I that he would be the Pope, or that he would be killed as the Pope (though she might have commented that he would make a good pope as a personal observation, not some message from Heaven,) and the 1984 consecration of the world counted, even thought it did not say Russia, but only hinted at it. (The reason being that the Pope did not want to upset the Patriarch of Russia, also related, the error of Russia was about the militant atheism of communism and not a slight on the Orthodox Church.) Also, both Sister Lucia and St. Pope John Paul II agreed that the third secret relates to when he was shot in 1980, and the book pointed out many connections between the event and Fatima as well as the fact that he was almost to the point of death and that if it wasn't for a number of unlikely things he would have died. It also adds a section of thoughts on how visions relate to the visionary and are often symbolic in nature. (For those that will not believe the event has happened until a pope is killed mountain climbing in the ruins of a city filled with the dead by bows and arrows while angels splash people in blood, etc.) In short, all the popular conspiracy theories about Fatima, aren't true.

This is book one in a series of books on the adventures of Bill, a vampire. This book deals with how Bill became a vampire, and his early vampire activities. Bill was a stereotypical nerd/geek. He is average looking, lucks out with women, lives with a couple of roommates who are much like him, works a tech job mostly from his apartment, is a D and D regular, etc. A hot women invites him to a party when they meet on public transportation, and although he can't believe that that really happened, he goes. It turns out she is a vampire and the coven that she belongs to has a habit of having parties in with all the male or female vamps invite some type of "losers" to the party, drink their blood, turn them and then dust them. (The time before the men all invited overweight women to the party. Also this coven only contains people that would be described as very physically attractive.) Bill is able to be with it enough after being turned that when he sees the other guys getting dusted, he tries to escape. He, as a new vampire with no natural fighting or running abilities fails miserably, but a senior vampire that was visiting the group saves his life. They then find out that unlike most vampires, his sire and senior vampires can not compel him to do things, he is a Freewill. This makes him a thing of legend even among vampires.

There was also a single Jewish man that spent some time there, as well as a non-Jewish man who was wanted by the gestapo. It also deals with her issues related to the war that took place after the war, these include PTSD from events that happened, and people outside of those she knew during the war not believing her story. It is mostly compiled by her son, from the stories that she was finally willing to tell decades after the events and then he pieced the stories together with some info from others that were there.

Patrick and Ben are two survivors of the surprise, civilization ending, chemical warfare, attract on the USA. Most people liquefied with their first contact with the yellow dust that now covers the world. But, some people survived, possibly due other chemicals dumped in the Mississippi river when they were growing up. When their supply of pudding cups almost disappeared, they decided to take a trip to Walt Disney World, for reasons that are beyond what the reader or Ben are told. On the way to Disney they are given a prophesy of what will happen, run in to other survivors, fight cults, zombies, and Amtrak red caps.

One thing that these books could use to make them easier for using as reference; either a list of the questions and what page they are at the beginning of the books i.e. a table of contents or an index at the end of the book. Although the books are short it is still some work re-finding a question quickly.
